Our lead survival instructor is Walter A. Matthews. Walter has over 21 years of service with the Chilean Marine’s professional survival experience. He wanted to share his skills with the country of Chile, where he created the Survival and Primitive Skills School. A Military Professor of Survival Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE), he’s an expert at creating and updating teaching programs for the Chilean Polytechnic Naval Academy. You will use anthropomorphic measures, learn how to use cutting tools safely, find emergency shelters, properly source water, and much more. You’ll gain the necessary knowledge and skills to face the first moments in the field and keep in good conditions, applying survival techniques.
In Survival 2, which can only be taken after completing Survival 1, you’re primarily learning to work in nature safely and proactively using “bushcraft” techniques and primitive skills.
